There’s an old saying that goes, “You have to give to get.” Well, I don’t know if the word, have is 100% accurate, but what I do know is that it surely makes things a lot easier. Try this exercise: Put something small, perhaps a coin or other small object in your hand. Now, hold onto it as tight as you can. What do you notice? The fact is that if anyone wanted to give you something, you would be in no position to accept it because your hand is holding tightly to what you already have. It’s the same with everything in life. Try holding onto what you have too tightly and you’ll rarely be on the receiving end of others’ generosity.

Specifically, let’s look at one of the greatest sources of leads, referrals. If you are the type of person who continually asks for referrals, but never gives them, you may in fact get a few in the beginning without reciprocating. However, you’ll soon be recognized as someone who is only out for themselves. Someone who holds on too tight to what they have and rarely gives anything back. When that happens, you’ll see your referrals disappear.

If you want to build a great referral network, start with those who regularly come into contact with what you would consider being your perfect customer. Then start with something like this: “I would like to send you some referrals if I could. What do you consider to be the perfect prospect for your product or service?” While you are getting your answer, take notes…specific notes and then follow through by sending a referral or two. Don’t do this just once or twice, but with everyone from whom YOU would like to get referrals in return. You’ll be amazed at the results.

It matters very little whether you are a selling rookie or a seasoned professional, sooner or later, you will find yourself mired in a selling slump. There are a number of actions you can take to shorten the duration of the slump, lessen the financial impact, and reduce the emotional drain that a slump can cause you.

This is ‘Tip 5’ in a series.

Selling slumps are as perennial as the seasons but they don’t need to destroy your career. Understand that they are part of the marketplace and they always will be. They are caused by a variety of factors but always keep in mind that you didn’t just wake up ‘dumb’ one morning. When you understand that fact, it will be easier to recognize that the situation is temporary. In old writings authors often used the term, “it came to pass”. They didn’t use the term, “it came to stay“.

Tip #5: Build relationships rather than simply working to establish rapport. Many sales trainers, sales courses and selling books teach the importance of establishing rapport with prospects to help reduce fear in his or her mind. While rapport is essential, it is only partway to the ultimate goal master salespeople seek to achieve. Rapport seeks to establish common ground between the prospect and the salesperson. However, relationship building goes one very critical step beyond.

Building a solid relationship early in the process can establish a higher level of trust resulting in a higher closing rate. Salespeople will become the ‘problem solver’ for their clients. That will shift the customer’s perspective away from viewing someone strictly as a salesperson who might be seen in an adversarial position. The new perspective will be to view that same person as a ‘selection specialist’ who will assist them in eliminating the problem that the customer is trying to solve.

This strategy will not only help end a selling slump more quickly but it will also reduce the chances of slumps returning. This is because properly built relationships will result in long-term repeat customers and customers who will be regular referral contributors.

It matters very little whether you are a selling rookie or a seasoned professional, sooner or later, you will find yourself mired in a selling slump. There are a number of actions you can take to shorten the duration of the slump, lessen the financial impact, and reduce the emotional drain that a slump can cause you.

This is ‘Tip 4’ in a series.

They didn’t use the term, “it came to stay”.

Tip #4: Develop empathy so you are able to transition from trying to convince your prospect to problem-solve for him or her. Many salespeople feel that they must convince prospects to buy their product or service offer. The truth is that people will ultimately choose to buy what they feel they want, need, and can afford. If your product or service has sufficient benefits, the customer will choose to buy from you.

To easily allow the sale to develop you will need to come from a position of empathy where you allow yourself to discover the underlying buying motives of your prospect. Once you have identified these triggers, rather than going into ‘convince mode’ try involving your customer and focus on ‘revealing’ the benefits the customer will enjoy when he or she takes ownership of your product or service. It can tip the scales in your favor if you are able to reveal a particular extra benefit that the prospect wasn’t expecting. Layered benefits increase value and reduce price resistance.

When salespeople spend their time ‘convincing’ they are often seen as pressure. When they are ‘revealing’ benefits, they are seen as helpful and the prospect is much more likely to make a positive buying decision.

It matters very little whether you are a selling rookie or a seasoned professional, sooner or later, you will find yourself mired in a selling slump. There are a number of actions you can take to shorten the duration of the slump, lessen the financial impact, and reduce the emotional drain that a slump can cause you.

This is ‘Tip 3’ in a series.

They didn’t use the term, “it came to stay”.

Tip #3: Intensify your Qualification Process. One of the comments that I have heard many times over the years when dealing with salespeople who encounter slumps during times of abundant leads is that they feel frustrated with investing so much time only to ‘lose the sale’.

It’s hard to imagine a sales slump arriving during times of very high traffic. I assure you it does happen. The reason is quite simple. When there are many people needing service, there is pressure for salespeople to move quickly in order to get to all of the prospects.

When there is abundant traffic, there is also a greater number of people simply ‘looking’. These people may not be ready or able to make a purchase. Yet most will not easily volunteer that information. If you are going to avoid wasting your time and energy, you will need to intensify your qualification process so that you can flush out the real selling opportunities.

This strategy is effective at ‘event sales’ where a sense of urgency can be created in the mind of the customer. However, my general rule of thumb is that speed kills in the selling process. Therefore, this technique should be used only where prospect traffic is well above normal.

It matters very little whether you are a selling rookie or a seasoned professional, sooner or later, you will find yourself mired in a selling slump. There are a number of actions you can take to shorten the duration of the slump, lessen the financial impact, and reduce the emotional drain that a slump can cause you.

This is ‘Tip 2’ in a series.

They didn’t use the term, “it came to stay”.

Tip #2: Do a critical evaluation of your recent sales opportunities that have not gotten the results you wanted. Be careful not to turn this into a self beat-up session. That will not be productive. Rather examine the steps you took at each opportunity to determine what worked and what didn’t. Don’t label things right or wrong, simply did it work properly or didn’t it. Then plan to make the appropriate adjustments.

It is also beneficial to see if you have recently taken a major deviation from your normal selling procedures. In other words, have you swerved off your established gameplan?

Professional athletes have coaches to help them recognize these shifts from their normal routines. Baseball hitters have batting coaches who watch for minor deviations. The greatest golfers have coaches to monitor their swings.

Salespeople usually have managers who observe their performance. It’s a great idea to approach your manager for help rather than to wait for the manager to come to you because of performance issues.

If you don’t have a manager, considering getting a coach, taking a sales course, or reading a sales book. Any of these actions will help you break out of the slump earlier and improve your mental outlook.

Internet of Things was probably one of the obscure technologies at some point, when people were apprehensive about it, as they didn’t know much about it. But that time has long gone. IoT has now become the technology of the masses. Everyone is ready to adopt IoT solutions, to employ the best IoT developers, and own IoT devices.

In the view of such popularity, it’s only fair that we should be looking at what trends IoT would be following in the coming time:

IoT and Mobile Phones: The Age-Old Relationship

Talking about technology, the biggest one is probably the one that we carry everywhere with us. Our mobile phones, Such is the power of mobile phones on our daily lives, that people are increasingly trying to connect them with everything around them – so they don’t have to worry about carrying some other device as some sort of remote control.

Mobile phone, irrespective of which brand it belongs to today, has become a brand in itself. The smart IoT devices would, therefore, be expected to make the smart decision of connecting well with their owners’ mobile phones.

The streamlined communication, the all-time visibility of the device – these factors will definitely help in boosting customer engagement in the coming time.

Inter-connected Devices on a Rise

We are right now in the middle of a great revolution that goes by the name of The Internet of Things development. And this revolution has already resulted in us being surrounded by a huge number of smart devices today.

So obviously, this New Year and years coming after this one, are all going to be looking at an increase in such devices. Plus, with developers working on making these devices connect better than ever before, we could be looking at something as simple as toothbrushes getting smarter.

Everything around us is to become more interconnected, get better at exchanging and analyzing data and is to eventually help people make better decisions.

Data Security Risk and Information Breaches

With everything being interconnected, smart devices are bound to also create some security issues for us. 9 out of 10 IoT developers have had the same concern regarding this technology, and their fears are not without a ground.

Whether it’s our television, or it’s the baby monitor – everything that we thought was completely harmless could now easily be used as a medium of cyber attack. The safety and exchange of all our important information are not going to remain limited to our Smartphone anymore.

Every piece of data that we, in one way or the other, keep generating on a daily basis, will be at the risk of getting wither misused, misinterpreted, or just plain stolen. And there’ll be little you could do about it. 2020, therefore, is looking at an increased risk of information breach due to IoT.

Creative Use of Blockchain for IoT

We’ve all heard about Blockchain, and it would be safe to say that we are all in awe of the way it works. Offering a decentralized control option, it makes use of highly advanced cryptographic algorithms to develop a secure system.

Doesn’t it sound like an optimum solution to tackle the privacy and security threat that IoT devices are or might be facing in the now or the future? Using Blockchain to ensure the privacy of any and all IoT data exchanges, would further ensure that if by chance a single device does get corrupted, no other device will bear the brunt.

The decentralized security system will make it difficult to compromise all devices in the chain; the whole system will, therefore, be better secured.

Growing Investments

The impact of IoT on the world around us is so palpable, that no one can now look away from it. Business owners are looking for the interconnectivity offered by IoT and adopting it in their own models.

Many are even designing their whole business models based on IoT. If you too are looking at the prospect of IoT applications for your business, you’re doing just the right thing.

Bsquare did a study, and it found that 86% companies are adopting IoT solutions, while 95%, in addition, believe IoT could be a sound solution. This has further led to a global IoT spending that would near $1.4 trillion by 2022, assays IDC report. So, 2020 could be looking at investments rising as high as… well, there’s no saying how high it could go.

So, where’s IoT Taking Us?

It’s taking us through technological crevices to technological heights, which we never knew existed – which seemed unimaginable until some time before. The potential for this technology has always been immense.

Throughout this time, since it came into inception, Internet of Things has had a huge impact on how we communicate with the devices around us, how we build and digitize our businesses, and how we exchange and even monetize data.

IoT has made us ride this amazing multi-trillion dollar ride while changing our concept of connectivity, privacy, and business in general. Talking of security, it sure has been giving us all a bit of a hard time; but every day, developers are working hard at building ultra sophisticated protocols to maintain our privacy in an IoT-influenced world.

Protect and manage what matters most in your life with the perfect Smart Home complete solution. It’s simpler than you think!

When you hear people talk about “smart homes,” they are merely referring to the way that you can control and monitor your home’s systems remotely. You can check the temperature, turn down the cooling, make sure the doors are locked and secured, and much more.

If you want a smart home, you don’t have to go out and buy a new home. You can make changes to your current home, adding features that you can control with a computer, a tablet, or a mobile phone. Smart home products are popular for several reasons:

They are convenient.

They save you money.

They keep your home more comfortable.

They make your home safer.

They are easy and fun to manage.

HOW TO CHOOSE SMART PRODUCTS

Smart products can be a little more expensive than your typical home fixtures. For that reason, most people choose not to upgrade their entire home all at once with smart products. That is one of the benefits of transforming your abode into a smart home. You can choose to do it all at once or in steps. If you want to start with a few essentials, select smart home systems that will have the greatest impact. We recommend asking yourself a few questions to help you decide:

What home systems are costing me the most money to run? Or, which monthly bills related to my home do I most want to reduce?

What home systems do I most frequently forget to monitor?

Which home features do I wish would monitor themselves?

Where do I feel like my home is lacking in safety?

This list should help you narrow down your list to things like self-locking doors and windows, an inefficient heating or cooling system, or house lights that are frequently left on when not needed. Smart home products can solve any and all of these problems.

HOW THEY WORK

Smart home products are quick and easy for a professional to install. Vivint Smart Home is one of the best options on the market today. Once installed, they are easy for the entire family to use. You can have your smart products up and running in just a few days.

Have the Vivint installer walk you through set up or follow the owner’s manual to set up the smart home system initially.

Download any apps you need or set up your account on websites that monitor the smart feature in your home.

Access the app or website at work, at the gym, or anywhere on your phone.

Finally, get a good night’s sleep knowing all is well with your home and that you are secure.

You can customize your smart home system to exactly how you want it to work. This is what makes smart homes so convenient. Every family has different needs, such as when they eat, sleep, shower, clean dishes, and turn the lights on. Your smart home systems will work with your family’s schedule, minimizing energy usage and saving you time and money.

HOW THEY SAVE MONEY

How exactly do smart homes save you money? Several ways. Have you ever looked at your water bill and wished you could lower it permanently? Have you ever wondered what was causing your heating bill to skyrocket? Everyday life and every season has fluctuations, but smart products help to minimize those fluctuations while still meeting the family’s needs.

For example, a smart thermostat can be programmed to keep the house cooler at a certain time of day and then warmer during other times. When the house is always comfortable, there is no need for you to constantly be going back to the thermostat to turn it up. And if you never have to turn up the temperature, then you’ll never forget to turn it back down again. An added benefit of smart heating and cooling systems is that they usually include more energy-efficient heaters and air conditioners.

WHAT’S TRENDING WITH SMART HOMES

Manufacturers are constantly coming up with new and amazing products for smart homes. For example, not only can you program your thermostat from your phone, but now you can even install a smart thermostat that can remember your heating and cooling preferences and automatically set your home’s temperature without you touching a button. Talk about staying comfortable without shooting your utility bill through the roof! Here are a few other popular smart products on the market:

Water leak sensors

Water shutoff valves to stop leaks

Water heater shutoff

Energy-saving, programmable thermostats

Automated air conditioning systems

Motion detectors

Automatic, timed lights

Light dimmers

Digital security system

Automated home locks

GETTING STARTED by calling (855) 749-2910

Make sure you get high-quality smart home systems by talking to neighbors about products they have used and asking the experts about the highest-quality products they offer. You can also tell quality products by whether they come with a warranty. If you prefer to start slow, choose one or two smart changes to your house.

You can experience the convenience and the monthly savings before making further upgrades to your home. Every upgrade will make a difference and save energy and money. The more smart products you invest in, the more you’ll enjoy the benefits!
