When you have positive business relationships with customers, they tell their friends about it. When their friends hear about it, they bring their business to you.

According to one source, “92% of customers trust referrals from people they know.” If someone refers a friend to your company, more than likely they’re going to trust that referral.

Another mind-boggling statistic shows that “65% of new business opportunities come from referrals and recommendations.” With such a large portion of business coming from referrals, you must emphasize your relationship with your current customers as they will tell those around them about your business if their experience is positive.

83 percent of current customers “say they are willing to refer your business after a positive experience,” according to a source. That stresses even more that you must keep strong relationships with your customers, as that will result in more business coming in.

Unconditional positive interaction with your customers leads to much more business because referrals can turn into a massive chain reaction. If one customer refers to a friend, and they end up liking our products, that friend will refer to a friend and the cycle will continue.

Never underestimate the importance of positive customer service because one bad customer experience could keep them and their friends from ever working with you again.

• Continuous communication

When you have a good relationship with your customers, it allows you to learn more about them and their product preferences. It also breaks down the wall of awkwardness between the two of you, allowing them to speak their mind about products.

This helps you gain a better understanding of what they would like in the future while also gaining feedback on your products. A customer who has a level of comfort with you will be more likely to give you positive or negative feedback on your products, allowing you to adjust accordingly.

Having a customer who tells the unfiltered truth is important, and a relationship with them could lead to much more sales than if the relationship was negative.

Having a consumer base that feels comfortable enough with you is something that often gets overlooked in the business world, but it could work wonders for your company. You learn more about your customers and your products, giving you an advantage over your competition.

Keeping this continuous communication is important, as it gives the customer a feeling of camaraderie and comfort with you. It also allows you to have a better chance at maintaining the customer, as they wouldn’t want to take their business away from a company that they feel close to.

All three of the aforementioned reasons work hand in hand to help improve your business and can lead to repeat buyers. Never underestimate the value of providing good customer service, as one good conversation could lead to repeat business, referrals, and more essential feedback to take your business to the next level.

The definition of sustainability is the ability to avoid the depletion of resources in order to maintain an ecological balance. That is, to offset possible impacts on the natural environment. NASCAR’s stated objective is to be as environmentally conscious as possible, while still providing the exciting experiences that NASCAR’s fans know and love.

One of the ways that NASCAR has implemented sustainability is through its food and concessions programs. There is an industry-wide recycling program that aids and assists in food diversion. Through Sustainable America, an organization whose initiative is to make the nation’s food and fuel systems more efficient and resilient, NASCAR conducted a pilot program to reduce food waste in two ways. Prepared foods that would otherwise have gone to waste were instead redirected to Good Samaritan Ministries. Other food scraps were sent to be composted instead of to landfills. In 2015, when this program was started, a total of 5.4 tons of food went to compost and more than 1,000 meals were donated back to the community. Another example is that since 2008, around 25 million bottles and cans sold at NASCAR events have been recycled.

Another way different race tracks and NASCAR teams have implemented sustainability efforts is by using solar power as an energy source. Several race tracks, including Daytona International Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, Pocono Raceway, and Sonoma Raceway, are now using solar-powered energy to reduce their carbon footprints. In 2010, Pocono Raceway introduced the ‘3MW Pocono Solar Project’ which enabled the location to be 100 percent powered by solar power. In addition to this, Ponoco has adopted a tree planting campaign in association with the Arbor Day Foundation to aid in countering deforestation.

NASCAR has also partnered with Sunoco to launch a long-term biofuels initiative throughout their three touring series. Sunoco Green E15 is a 15 percent ethanol blend biofuel that reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 20% without the cars losing any horsepower. 200,000 gallons of oil are recycled across NASCAR’s three touring series annually. This partnership with Sunoco has been proven safe and efficient, running more than 10 million competitive miles throughout the ongoing touring series.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting with Dave Brown. He’s the President of Nuvo Solutions Inc., headquartered in Clayton, North Carolina, southeast of Raleigh.

Dave founded Nuvo with CEO Emily French in 2016. Dave had been in the mobility channel for over 20 years and, along with Emily, saw a need to support SMB and enterprises in more reliable ways than had become the industry norm.

The Nuvo team is always on the lookout for similar-minded businesses that believe in integrity, reliability, and consistency – who share their values. Over the next few years, as Nuvo trialed various channel routes, they had already heard of ConectUS from business customers and competitors. Said David, “Being in the channel for that long, ConectUS was a name that had popped up a few times.”

I asked Dave if there were any particular attributes that differentiated ConectUS from other potential partners.
