Yarborough raced from 1957 until 1988, with one of his most well-known moments coming in 1979 at Daytona International Speedway. He had just won his final NASCAR Cup Series Championship and was racing in the first race that was shown from start to finish on broadcast television. Many people were watching this race, and if you didn’t know who Yarborough was before the race, you would quickly find out.

In this race, Yarborough got into a wreck with a driver named Donnie Allison on the backstretch. Once the drivers exited their cars after the race, Allison and Yarborough started fighting. Donnie’s brother Bobby also stepped into the fight to defend his brother.

This was a moment that helped put NASCAR on the map, and the racing community will always remember Yarborough for this altercation. With this crazy fight also comes many other daring and aggressive moves on the race track. Yarborough was known as one of the boldest drivers of all time, and his style of racing was unique and will never be forgotten.

Yarborough was enshrined into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2011, and his moments on the track and beyond will be cherished forever.
