When you begin a cold call campaign, or walk into your prospect’s office, or otherwise approach a potential customer, are you always entirely sure of your objectives? A glowing presentation that ends without a clear direction can almost never be effective. At the beginning of any sales presentation, it is necessary to ask yourself two questions that, at first glance, may seem to have obvious answers:

What are you selling?

What do you want?

Regardless of how many times I ask these questions of sales professionals, the large majority blunder in their answers. They have one objective in mind “to sell a product/service” whether it is a quick $15 decision or a multi-part $150,000 purchase. In order to make each contact you have with your prospects effective, you should be sure you know the objectives of each meeting, by the way, that will not always be to sell something.

Take the example of Kelly, a sales associate who believes that her latest job, selling a children’s product to stores, will lead her to the high commission payouts she has dreamed of for years. Kelly talks to all of her lead about the different options they have but never seems to be able to make a sale. Her dialogue usually sounds like this…

“These products just leap off the shelves, see the bright colors, studies prove that kids love them and reach for them instinctively, oh and take a look at the kids safe information, parents go for that every time. You can get this at a steal right now; we have a special wholesale discount in place.”

What is Kelly actually selling here, a product that kids will love, a product that parents will love, or a product that is a low-cost item to the retailer? And what does she want the prospect to do, buy her product, think about buying her product, or think to take a lesson in buyer’s psychology? I am not sure because she is not sure. Kelly has not thought more past her overall objective of selling something to make some money.

I recently attended a free seminar targeted towards success-seekers after which the speaker offered his company’s mentoring services. His objectives were clear from the start. He began by expressing the importance of mentoring and demonstrating how we employed the use of mentoring in other parts of our lives.

He went on to discuss ultra-successful entrepreneurs and made links between their success and the mentors who they claimed helped them achieve it. Towards the end, he rounded off his presentation with an effective set of slides that showed well-known celebrities who had all gone through his mentoring program, all of which had glowing reviews. It was only then that he mentioned his program, giving us the feeling that we could not leave the room without it.

His proposition was that the audience signs up for his mentoring services, his presentation showed why we needed those mentoring services. With great focus and clarity, this speaker ensured that his whole presentation supported his proposition. You can create sales presentations that are just as effective by answering the two questions mentioned earlier: What are you selling? What do you want?

Action step: before every sales situation, take a moment to write down your answers to these two questions.

Let’s look at Kelly’s dilemma again. What is she selling? While it may be true that both parents and kids love the product, Kelly should do some preliminary work before her meeting to find out what her prospects care about most. If the prospect has a large play area and encourages kids to spend a long time in the store, focus on how much kids tend to love the product. If the store is largely geared towards the parent shopping with a child, focus on that angle instead.

If Kelly asked herself what she wants to achieve from each conversation. She would be able to make her presentations even more effective. Understand that the answer to this question is not always to sell something. If she is on a cold call, for example, she may just be looking for an appointment that would change her approach. For now, let’s say that she actually wants to make the sale; she needs to improve her script in order to heighten her chances, for example:

“I know that my competitors have introduced a new item but they also raised the price over everything else in that category. Here I have an item that has just as much appeal and can sell it to you for less. Take a few to display right now; you can have them on consignment”

You will be able to help your prospects to say “yes” to your proposition when you have approached them with a clear and focused proposal.

You have a choice. You can stand out or blend in with your competitive landscape. Differentiation doesn’t come naturally, blending in does. We all want to fit in with the crowd, we want to be like everybody else, and we’ve been that way since we were kids. As a professional sales representative you should focus on what makes you different because the similarities will take care of themselves.

When selling there are three principle things you can differentiate: You, your products, and your company. Our observation is that most sales representatives do an adequate job of differentiating their products and their company. They neglect, however, to develop a personal brand. Before a customer considers buying your products, they must buy you.

Here are seven ways to separate you from the competition:

Your appearance matters. Look the part because your appearance influences your image. You are walking billboard and how you look is what your prospects see first. Belts and shoes should be the same color. Shoes and shoe heels should be shined – every day. When it comes to your wardrobe buy less and spend more.

Prepare an effective e-mail signature. Your e-mail signature of course should include your name, a keyword a short phrase – describing your expertise, a telephone number, and your web site. Also periodically include a P.S. and a P.P.S. to emphasize new product introductions, special sales, and special events. In this way, every email provides a branding and promotional opportunity for you.

Getting people to return your telephone calls is challenging for everyone. Using a different approach can make all the difference in the world. Mike, a client, shared this with me and it’s guaranteed to be different. If someone very important is not returning your telephone calls use this approach. Buy a coffee mug and print these words on the mug. “Let’s talk business over a cup of coffee.” Put a packet of Starbucks coffee into the mug and include a note with your business card and the times you’ll be available to take his telephone call.

Here’s a business card idea. Why are business cards printed one side? Use the blank side of your business to differentiate yourself. You can stamp an inspirational quote. You can stamp the 7 reasons why customers like doing business with you. Use red ink to make it stand out.

This is a small tip though it’s an effective one. Most promotional literature is produced on standard size 8 1/2″ X 11″ paper. Since most people are overwhelmed by the amount of work on their desk – they simply create stacks of sales rep literature. Go to an Office Depot and buy brightly colored 9 X 12 paper. Affix your literature to the 9 X 12 paper and it’ll standout in any stack of literature. Use the open space on the colored paper to write a note, a reminder, or even your phone number.

Visibility is more important than ability. Every contact counts. Develop a (one-two-three) follow-up system every time you meet and/or talk to a new prospect. Here’s my recommendation – within 24 hours send an e-mail, within 72 hours send a handwritten note, within 10 days send a handwritten note with an article to your prospect. Within two weeks you have a total of four exposures with your new prospect. Now that’s impressive.

Prepare creative organizational charts for your biggest proposals. In your business, if you do proposals especially for larger deals, consider using a very creative organizational chart. Think about the five to seven people in your organization who interact with your customers; you, your sales manager, your Vice President of sales, customer service, technical service, you get the picture. Create an organizational chart using boxes and include in each box the following: name, title, telephone number, e-mail address, and a digital photograph. This introduces your entire team with photographs to your new potential customer. It’s easier for a prospect to say no to a salesperson than it is to say no to the entire team.

The real difference among salespeople is what’s inside their heads – their ideas. To offer generalities when customers are begging for specificity misses the mark completely. Don’t permit generalities to skewer the real differences between you and your competitors.

Being boring, bland, and benign won’t cut it in today’s very competitive marketplace.

If you want to make a difference you have to be different.

We often speak about meeting clients’ needs. What often separates winning presenters from the rest is (1) a better understanding that clients have many needs that cluster around the one that first triggered the sales call, and (2) a presentation that demonstrates leadership: the ability to address the big picture and provide a comprehensive and long-term solution, rather than simply putting out the fire as a transaction vendor.

A winning presentation demonstrates your grasp of the immediate problem and its context, how does it fit into the company’s bigger picture, given its mission, vision, and strategy. You should present the analysis to show you’ve done your homework, and not just jump to recommending your company’s product or service. If your analysis includes the consideration and rejection of issues that your competitors might recommend – that’s fine! It inoculates the buyer when a competitor proposes something you’ve already demonstrated is inadequate. Finally, make your recommendation.

Next, give the buyer emotional reasons to choose YOU. Give testimonials in the form of stories that people are more likely to remember and share with other decision-makers. Use case studies or vignettes of how your firm helped other clients, especially those with great reputations. Whenever possible use personal experiences so the client can build a bond with you – seeing how you go out of the way to help make clients heroes within their organizations.

Ultimately, they buy because they’re confident about the product/service and begin to trust that you are looking out for their “bigger picture” interests, and can make quality decisions on their behalf. They realize that situations do change and they may need additional services/products in the future. They will want to work with a partner that sees the big picture and thinks things through.

That’s a lot to do in a single presentation – whether you’re selling services/products to clients, getting buy-in from senior executives for a new product/service launch, or reducing fear/creating enthusiasm for organizational change. That’s why the presentation has to be focused, succinct, and engage both reason and emotions.

Most important is your delivery because you are a key component of the message. Be authentic – present your honest concern for your client’s long-term ability to meet immediate and long-term goals, enthusiasm for your product/service and company, and vigor – to do whatever it takes to meet the client’s ongoing needs.

Sales textbooks are filled with examples of trial and final closes, and if you are a student of the art and science of professional selling you no doubt have read many, if not all of them.

The issue of course is that in today’s marketplace buyers have become accustomed to just about every clever line and manipulative phrase that sales people ever invented. Instead today, the buyer community is keenly aware of the overused, old hat clichés sales people traditionally used to qualify them.

In today’s world buyers are strongly focused on products, systems and services that return real value for the commitment of doing business with you. And old style stale selling ways are fortunately being replaced by new, and greatly improved methods that give the buyer credit for intelligent decision-making.

One of those methods is to make a professional presentation after enough fact-finding that establishes the buyers needs, wants and desires. Professional salespeople who have spent a reasonable amount of time investigating these are the ones who will be in the best position to perform what traditionally is referred to as trial closing.

As a professional, however, you recognize that part of the fun of selling is to enjoy what you are doing for a living. Let no one doubt for an instant that buyers still like doing business with professionals who are competent in their company’s policies, products, processes, procedures, practices and prices. Taken as a body these cumulatively could be called “manifested” competency skills. Similarly, interesting, fun and enjoyable could be called “personality” competency skills. Top-flight professional sales people usually have huge amounts of both.

Yet, how can you be fully knowledgeable about your company, be up all the time, be fun and entertaining too when by virtue of what you do for a living has “no’ associated with it.

Here’s a way to do it and at the same time develop an additional skill set as a by-product.

Have you have reached a point in your sales career where you recognize that all the trite and hackneyed trial closes just don’t seem to make you feel comfortable anymore? Do you see your prospect rejecting them? Then try this. It’s called use your senses, and here’s how it works.

There are numerous studies that describe the types of communications that are successful; typically these are culturally dependent. Kinetics, body language, appearance, voice modulation, pace and delivery of speech and personal space are a few. Each on its own is a study of and by itself. So how do you determine if your delivery and message are being well received and you are getting through to your prospect?

One way is to provide a natural checkpoint in the presentation that lets you find out how your message is being delivered. Three of your five senses, namely see, hear and feel give you the checkpoints to determine if your prospect and you are tracking in parallel.

The purpose of a demonstration and presentation is to clarify in the prospects mind what your product, system or service will do for them; this you would have already identified in the fact finding/analysis stage. During the presentation, whether on the phone or face-to-face you should be able to “sense” how your prospect wishes to have information presented. So now you should be able to pause during your statements of fact and ask simple yet effective questions.

And using one of those three senses is a sure fire way to monitor how well you have been doing.

Try these the next time you want to intermittently check your presentation progress. If your prospect appears to be visually oriented ask them ‘do they see it’? If on the other hand your prospect concentrates on the words, ask them ‘how does that sound’? Moreover, if your prospect is outgoing, then you have a wonderful opportunity to ask them “how they feel’ about what you have said. In the process you have called on the prospect to make an assessment or evaluation. They certainly will be more comfortable with you since you listened for their response, what they had to say and in so doing have made them part of the process.

In the new age of selling, the cornering techniques used by past generations of sales people are just not effective anymore. The savvy buyer is immune to them and more than likely will turn off to overused phrases and outdated methods. An improved way to demonstrate your professionalism, sales skill and knowledge of people is to let them assimilate your information and while they are doing that, stop and ask a question or two based on using their senses. You’ll find the buyer is more appreciative of your down-to-earth forthright style, as well as much more prone to give you honest feedback that you need in order to “see“, “feel” and “hear” if your presentation is on track…especially for them.

Many people, including some in the sales profession, believe that sales training is a waste of time and money. A popular belief is that sales people are born to sell, and that an individual either “has it” or they don’t, and nothing can be done to change it.

This belief has been proven to be wrong. Selling is a learned skill. Many of the beliefs about the skills required for success are much different than those actually necessary.

Below is a list of truths about the sales profession:

1 – Sales is a learned skill. A sales rep will never reach their true potential until this fact is accepted. True professionals study and practice the skills proven to be effective and continue sales training throughout their career.

2 – Sales calls can be made any time. Many sales reps actually believe sales calls can only be made after 9:00 or before 3:00. The professional knows someone prefers 7:00 a.m. and others work evenings. Professionals find people to see them for a full day every day.

3 – The minds controls most sales. This is why many sales come in succession. It’s often called a lucky streak, but it isn’t. It is the sales rep “assuming the sale” without faking it. The previous sale programs the brain to believe the next one will buy also, and it often happens as a result. It is a 100% true belief the buyer is going to buy today.

4 – Good telemarketing is critical. Work backwards and determine how many calls are necessary to develop a full week of appointments. This number is the amount of calls that must be made each week.

5 – Increase selling time. The only time that is real “value added” is the time spent with the prospect or customer. The time getting an appointment, traveling to and from locations, completing paper work, and attending meetings is an incidental necessity, but not value added. Do all of these tasks outside of the high value added hours. Increasing value added selling time can be learned using lean manufacturing and six sigma principles.

6 – Learn to Close. Closing is the most learned skill in the profession. When a prospect objects about the price, color, service, or anything else, the sales pro knows exactly how to respond down to the specific words. At the point of the objection, there is no time to think. All thought should be directed toward body language and preparing the next 3-4 steps in the sales cycle.

7 – Learn sales techniques. Techniques are not tricks, and no sales rep would be effective trying to trick someone into buying. Some believe closing is using tricks but it is not true. It is simply being an effective negotiator helping the customer make a buying decision. For example, with a service objection such as the length of after-sale service being too short, the sales rep should use a “right angle close”. This negotiation is simply stating the answer with a buying question, such as “If I can get the two week service changed to four, will you give us a try today”?

Getting a sale is not an easy task and most people who have some amount of experience with sales are quite aware of that.

When a salesperson prepares his or her pitch, there are so many factors to be taken into consideration including what should be avoided so as to not turn the potential client off. There is, of course, no way of reading your client’s mind, but there are certain things that you can be pretty sure no one would like, especially those who might be spending money on your product.

Perhaps the main thing when it comes to sales is the point that closing the sale is not only about the product you are selling. A large part of the client’s decision to accept or reject the product can depend on how you conduct yourself. If you are amicable, confident and knowledgeable they could warm to you and your product but if they do not like you as a person, their reaction to you could extend to what they feel about the product.

For example, being late for an appointment (especially when you trying to sell something to a client) is an absolute faux pas. But you would be surprised at how many people go late to sales appointment, whatever the reason for that might be. As a salesperson, if you assume that you can get away with such misdemeanors, you are being extremely naïve. For starters, be aware of the fact that most people are quick with first impressions and these impressions usually last.

Once they have already had a negative impression about you for making them wait, they might not be too open about listening to what you have to say about the product you have on offer. From your point of view, they might just have been waiting five minutes or ten, but keep in mind that almost everyone is running on a tight schedule and, after all, time is money.

To close a sale, a salesperson had to be confident about him/herself and also the product they are offering. Part of your job as a salesperson is to convey to the client that your product is the solution to a certain problem that they have. But there is a very thin line between confidence and overconfidence. If you walk into a sales meeting acting and talking overly self-confidently it could very well be a turn off. Your clients do not want to be treated as simpletons who do not know what is good for their business. You want to identify a need for them in their business setup and offer them a solution, and not talk to them as if they are too slow to know any better.

You want to make sure than when you are presenting your pitch you do not come across as being arrogant. Clients especially dislike having to speak with salespeople who treat them with disdain and superiority. If that is the case, even if the client needs the product you are offering, it is very possible that they might choose to get a similar product from somewhere else.

The same goes for aggressiveness. There are many salespeople who believe that pushing the product forcefully can lead to a sale but that is a delicate path to tread. This might work once in a while for you, but more often than not, clients get uncomfortable when you assertively try to push a product onto them.

Clients like to make their own decision and you are there to offer them options, not to force decisions on to them. Bear in mind that your clients are usually well aware of the workings of their business and industry norms, and being as knowledgeable as they are they will probably not digest everything you say without questions.

Part of the problem lies in the fact that many salespeople do not get proper training into the do’s and don’ts of a sales pitch so they might go about doing things in anyway as long as they can close the deal. A salesperson that is not properly trained in sales might not realize the importance of customizing the sales pitch for different clients, body language or the various other matters that impact sales.

Carrying out a good sales pitch and closing the deal is nothing short of an art and it is most definitely not something everyone can handle naturally. If you are a manager, make sure the salespeople you are sending out into the field are those who understand the nature of sales and clients and deal with them accordingly. Knowing the ways of keeping your sales pitch under control is one of the first steps to closing a sale.

Selling Success is not only determined by your knowledge of the sales cycle, selling strategies, sales secrets or even conversational skills. As important as these things are, your personal emotions will often determine your level of attainment and financial success in your selling career and in other areas of your life. Regrettably, many sales training books and courses ignore this area completely.

In these 8 articles, we have given you some strategies that will help give you the edge in order to Sell at Mastery! While these articles are primarily focused on the sales profession, there are so many of these concepts that cross over into everyday living. This is article 8 in the “Are You Emotionally Ready?” series. We hope you have found this series educational and most of all useful to your financial future!

Have Faith. We am not referring here to what some would call religious faith but we’re not discounting that either. What we’re referring to is altering a basic thought pattern that many are saddled with in their minds and consequently, in their careers and lives.

We are suggesting that we work to eliminate these three career limiting concepts from our mental vocabularies. The super successful in all walks of life have done so already. You can too. The three concepts are Try, Hope, Believe. Why in the world would we suggest that these words that sound so nice are actually career and life limiters? We will look at each word in a little more depth to find the answer.

Try is defined as to attempt to do. My trusty thesaurus gives synonyms such as endeavor, struggle, strive, seek and make an effort. All are very positive and noble I suppose. These words share two things in common. They suggest action which is a good thing and the possibility of failure which is definitely not a good thing. Therefore do not embrace the word try. It is not a confidence building word.

Hope is defined as to feel that something desired may happen. Again, the thesaurus provides synonyms such as anticipate, wish, look forward to and dream which all are feel good sounding words but once again there is a sense of doubt attached. I might just add that the opposite of hope is despair. Hope may be actually weaker in nature than the word try because it does not even involve action while it definitely allows for the possibility of failure. Is it a confidence builder? I don’t think so.

Believe is defined as to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so. People have the tendency to believe in what others have told them. A belief is quite like superstition which is defined as an irrational, but usually deep-seated belief in the effects of a specific action or ritual, especially in the likelihood that good or bad luck or result will occur from performing it.

Believing in success is much more beneficial than not believing, however, it still has a hint of irrationality to it. That brings us back to the concept of having faith.

Faith is much stronger than belief. Faith is total unfaltering trust. Faith is having complete and confident expectation in the outcome. Faith is the complete removal of doubt from one’s mind. You might ask “How do you obtain faith without first obtaining absolute proof?”. You do it simply through preparation. You develop self-confidence by knowing that you are prepared for success. You have done all you can up to this point. Then you realize that preparedness never ends and success is ongoing. There is no failure. There are only learning opportunities and life-path alterations.

This type of faith is what is at the heart of all great success stories. How is your strength of faith in relation to your level of preparedness? If you are prepared, you can be confident and expect success!

We hope you have enjoyed this 8 Part series on the Art of Successful Selling. Go back and read all the past 7 articles again, then begin to reap your personal and financial rewards.

Good Selling and success to you, because “Getting Paid is Good!!”

In this series of 8 articles, we will give you some strategies that will help give you the edge in order to Sell at Mastery! While these articles are primarily focused on the sales profession, there are so many of these concepts that cross over into everyday living. This is article 7 in the “Are You Emotionally Ready?” series. We invite you to discover all 8.

Adopt a life of sharing and service. Examine the lives of the majority of those who achieved considerable financial rewards and/or considerable recognition (fame) from society. They usually have one important thing in common. Most will tell you that this has led to their success. It is what they will be most remembered for after they are gone. They have adopted a life of sharing and service to others at some level.

We all have something we can share or offer up in service to others. We need do this for some very good reasons, not least of which is that it helps us feel good. No doubt you have heard the age-old saying, It is better to give than to receive. Have you really thought about what that refers to?

Primarily it refers to how giving or serving others makes us feel, which is very good overall. However, there is a deeper message hidden there. The statement implies that if you can afford to give something away willingly you must have an abundance of it. Further, if you have an abundance and are grateful for that abundance, the source that supplied it in the first place will provide you with more and more of it. This wisdom has been proclaimed through the ages from a variety of sources.

It has been called the ‘power of ten,’ ‘the power of tithing’, ‘you reap what you sow’ and ‘you get back what you give out’ but the message is unmistakable and the message is heeded by the most successful among us to attract more into their lives.

You may feel that you do not have that much to share or give away, especially in the money department, so we will leave the discussion of money alone for a moment and suggest other things that you can easily share beginning with the simplest.

– Share a Smile: Who among us can’t share a smile? Consciously and deliberately start sharing smiles and see how many smiles come back to you along with friendlier customers you are serving, or better still, more attentive service from those serving you. Think about how many lives you can brighten throughout their day, even if it is for a brief moment.

– Share Your Time: Most of us can choose to find a couple of spare hours each week that we can volunteer to give in the service of others in some capacity. There are countless worthwhile projects and causes. Pick one or two that you have some passion for and get involved. You will feel great and your efforts will have a positive ripple effect on many around you.

– Share Your Talents: Everyone has talents. These are things that you are good at and are passionate about. You benefit by sharing these talents in the service of others through your work and in your private life. When you share your talents you will be rewarded with gratitude, happiness and financial gain. The more you share, the more rewards you will receive.

– Share Encouragement: This costs nothing yet it can create so many benefits. Everyone is trying to do better in their lives. At any point in time everyone is doing the best they can at the moment. Yet everyone is capable of doing more. The ultimate fuel for advancing in life is encouragement not criticism. Unfortunately, it is criticism that most people share. Encourage your spouse, a child, a co-worker, a friend or a stranger. It will make your day and theirs.

– Share Money: Last on the list is share your money. How much of it you share is up to you. If you hoard you are sending a message of lack or scarcity to the universal source. Sharing sends a message of abundance. Share money without any guilt that you should have done more. Why? You can never have enough to give away that will fix all the ills in the world. Just do your part, as you are able, and allow yourself to feel good.

Look for the last articles in this series tomorrow, then begin to reap your personal and financial rewards.

In this series of 8 articles, we will give you some strategies that will help give you the edge in order to Sell at Mastery! While these articles are primarily focused on the sales profession, there are so many of these concepts that cross over into everyday living. This is article 6 in the “Are You Emotionally Ready?” series. We invite you to discover all 8.

In this article, we will explore an area that many people are afraid of today and seriously ignore in their lives. They experience enormous frustration and anxiety as a result of failing to understand its importance.

Express genuine gratitude for everything you have or receive into your life. Do this at every opportunity. Why? There are a variety of reasons. I will share five of my favorites with you here.

1- It feels good. To feel good is the reason that we do most of what we choose to do in life. So, why not express gratitude to feel good? It is virtually impossible to feel genuinely grateful for something and feel bad at the same time. Therefore it makes sense to give thanks at every opportunity, doesn’t it? Our advice is to look for opportunities everywhere.

2- What you appreciate will appreciate in value. In other words it will grow. It has been shown that when you think about something, or focus your attention on it, it will grow. A simple example would be when you express thanks for a gift from a friend, chances are that another gift will follow at some point in time. However, if a gift is accepted and no thanks is given or gratitude shown, the chances that another gift will follow is definitely diminished.

That makes sense, doesn’t it? After all, why would someone continue to favor you with something that you aren’t grateful to receive? Hmm.

3- Expressing gratitude spreads joy into the world. Make no mistake about it, everyone, absolutely everyone, likes to be thanked. It makes them feel good too. It’s very easy to spread some joy in the world just by expressing thanks. Have you noticed how fewer and fewer people are saying thank you, even after someone has spent money with them? Is that the concept of entitlement rearing its ugly head or what?

4- It curbs greed and anxiety. In our opinion, this point is huge. When people do not express gratitude for what they have and what they have received in the past they develop the feeling of lack in their lives. They feel anxious and they develop a sense of greed, not simply a healthy desire for more which often leads to some serious behavioral issues. When someone is always grateful they will attract much more abundance, at all levels, into their lives.

The feeling of lack breeds more lack. The feeling of abundance breeds more abundance. When you feel you have abundance are you likely to feel greedy or anxious about anything? On the other hand, if you feel something is missing in your life, doesn’t that create anxiety and stress?

Eliminate the stress and greed in your life by showing and feeling gratitude for what you have and what you continue to receive. Some call this the basis for The Universal Law of Attraction.

5- It sends a strong message to the ultimate source of your abundance. It does not matter whether you care to look at it scientifically or spiritually, there is a source much more powerful than we are as individuals. We draw on this source for our abundance or our blessings, if you prefer to use that term.

Whether you express gratitude out loud or think it silently you are, in fact, sending a strong positive message (communicating with) the source. Consequently, you will receive more. If you send messages of lack that is, complain and grumble, you will get more of what you are focusing on, lack.

We find it fascinating how many salespeople or service people don’t take the time to simply say thank you after someone has honored them with their business. These are the first people to wonder why customers and their job security are slipping away. Once you begin to express genuine gratitude at every opportunity, you will most likely be amazed at how good you begin to feel and how your luck begins to change for the better.

In this series of 8 articles, we will give you some strategies that will help give you the edge in order to Sell at Mastery! While these articles are primarily focused on the sales profession, there are so many of these concepts that cross over into everyday living. This is article 5 in the “Are You Emotionally Ready?” series. We invite you to discover all 8.

We can imagine the e-mail backlash now. This subject tends to ignite reaction and discord from those who want to maintain the status quo. The status quo has served them for years. Changing it will likely cost them a lot of money. They resist anytime anyone tries to challenge one of the world’s most powerful control ideas. That is, the absurd notion that anyone is unworthy by design or circumstance.

Lose the feeling of unworthiness.

Many, dare we say most, individuals wrestle with self-esteem issues every single day of their lives. They feel that they are somehow unworthy of success. Why do they feel this way? Because other people have told them that they are unworthy or that they do not measure up to someone else’s standard.

The spreading of this nonsensical idea of unworthiness is one of the greatest frauds perpetrated on mankind. It is total nonsense and will stop you from reaching your true potential. Of course you are worthy! Who is more worthy than you are and why would they be?

Face it. The only people who will tell you that you are unworthy are those who want to exercise power and absolute control over you or perhaps want to tap into your money for their gain. If you are looking for success in life, do not let them sell you this bogus bill of goods.

There are certainly those who will use religion to push the notion that you are unworthy. This article is not meant to ignite a religious debate. I will only say that to my understanding, these religious based teachings relate to spiritual issues and opinions, not issues of this world.

You are worthy! You are worthy! You are worthy! But please also understand this concept. You are not more or less worthy than anyone else. You have the right and perhaps even the obligation to pursue your happiness and your dreams. Lose any feelings of unworthiness because those feelings will cause you to discriminate against yourself so that you might never test your upper limits.

Look for the other articles in this series, then begin to reap your personal and financial rewards.
