Imagine a skilled juggler comfortably keeping nine balls in the air. The performance is smooth, controlled, and impressive. Then someone hands them a tenth ball. Instead of improving the act, the additional ball may cause the entire routine to collapse. Suddenly, balls begin dropping, focus is lost, and what was once successful becomes chaotic.

The same principle applies in business.

Every project requires time, attention, resources, and decision-making. While organizations often seek growth through new opportunities, there comes a point where taking on more work does not create more value. Instead, it spreads teams too thin, creates bottlenecks, increases errors, and delays completion. The result is often ten partially completed projects instead of nine successful ones.

Effective leaders understand that capacity management is just as important as ambition. They regularly evaluate workloads, available resources, and strategic priorities. Rather than asking, “What else can we add?” they ask, “What can we successfully complete?”

This mindset requires discipline. Opportunities will always exist. New clients, initiatives, and ideas can be exciting, but every commitment carries a cost. Adding one more project may mean reducing the quality, speed, or focus of existing work. The strongest organizations recognize that saying “no” to one opportunity often allows them to say “yes” to excellence elsewhere.

The goal is not to operate below capacity. Businesses should challenge themselves and maintain enough activity to drive growth and innovation. However, sustainable success comes from finding the right balance—enough projects to maximize productivity, but not so many that performance suffers.

A healthy organization knows its limits and respects them. It monitors workloads, communicates resource constraints, and prioritizes execution over excessive expansion. Teams that can consistently deliver on nine important projects will outperform teams that continually struggle with ten.

Success is not measured by how many balls are in the air. It is measured by how many remain there. In business, knowing the difference between juggling nine and dropping ten can be the difference between growth and frustration, excellence and mediocrity, or success and failure.

As part of the tour, the students got to take photos near the track in the infield, see the facilities, and hear from David Starr and Rick James Stapp of ConectUS in a suite of the Speedway Club overlooking the track.

David talked about the importance of networking, his path to becoming a NASCAR driver, his relationship with sponsors, and how the racing and business worlds are deeply intertwined. Each of these talking points directly correlated with what the students were learning about in class. David then introduced Rick from ConectUS Wireless to talk about his partnership with David and to share details of the wireless industry and the operations side of ConectUS.

Rick taught the students exactly what wireless means and why it is a great business to be in. He also talked about how beneficial ConectUS’ partnership has been with David. ConectUS sponsored David in two races in 2021 and 2022, and this partnership has worked wonders for both sides involved. David then expanded upon how the racing world and business world work hand in hand. The ConectUS sponsorship of David has brought people from the racing community into the wireless industry and vice versa.

Both then fielded a question and answer session in which they talked about David’s journey to becoming a racecar driver and how networking has allowed him to prolong his racing career. David also explained that he wouldn’t be where he is without his sponsors and talked about how much the racing world has changed since he started racing as a 16-year-old.

ConectUS and David Starr’s partnership remains as strong as ever, and ConectUS is looking forward to continuing this partnership well into the future.

ConectUS Wireless has firmly established The Horn as the flagship video series for channel partners and agents across the U.S. who support the wireless network marketplace for SMBs and enterprise customers. Other established video series on ConectUS.com and MyConectUS.com include TECH TALKS, Partner News – LIVE, Did You Know?, and News Flash!

Over the last few years, ConectUS has been sponsoring NASCAR drivers in Cup Series and NASCAR Saturday races. Indeed, last week we sponsored J.J. Yeley’s NASCAR at Las Vegas Superspeedway. We’ve also featured the ConectUS Car in promotional activities not only online, but also at in-person events such as expos and conferences. For example, the ConectUS Car featured prominently at this year’s Channel Partners Conference. Thus, the ConectUS Car has come to be synonymous with the ConectUS brand.

ConectUS’ video output now includes many topics not related to wireless networks so we’ve decided to sunset The Horn title and launch Winners Circle to include all topics from technology to sports to human interest stories.

Winners Circle will be anchored by Neil Farquharson (pictured here) and will feature guest contributors from relevant industries and sports. Neil will be supported by the ConectUS content teams including Rick James Stapp, Karen Nguyen, and Noah Weber.
